The plans illustrate the layouts of two types of student accommodation at an Australian university, namely a room for two occupants and a room for a single occupant.
Overall, the room designed for two students is significantly larger and more expensive than the one-person room. Although both accommodations contain the same basic facilities, the larger room provides additional furniture, including an extra bed, a second study desk and a dining area.
In terms of the room for two students, it measures 6 metres by 4 metres and costs $350 per week. The bathroom is located in the upper-left corner, while a study desk is positioned near the top wall and another is situated along the bottom wall. On the right-hand side of the room are two beds separated by a cupboard. A table with chairs occupies the centre of the room, and kitchen facilities comprising a stove, sink and microwave are arranged in the lower-left area. Windows run along the right wall.
By contrast, the single room is considerably smaller, measuring 6 metres by 2.5 metres, and is available for $200 per week. Its layout is broadly similar, with the bathroom located in the upper-left corner and the cooking facilities positioned along the lower wall. However, the room contains only one bed and one study desk, both situated on the right-hand side. In addition, there is no dining table or extra desk, leaving more open floor space despite the room’s reduced dimensions.
