Given are two pie charts illustrating the age of tourists from the United Kingdom travelled to Spain from 1983 to 2003.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the percentage of visitors aged under 24 years old coming to Spain increased over the shown period, while the reverse was true for those aged 25 to over 55 years old. In addition, people who were 35-54 years old accounted for the vast majority in the charts.
In detail, people who fell into the 35 to 54 age group topped the list in 1983 with a half, compared to the oldest age bracket with only 16%. In the following twenty years, the former figure declined by 15% whereas the latter climbed by 10% in 2003.
Conversely, there was an upward trend in the proportion of the 16-24s travellers from the UK, increasing by approximately four times from 4% to 15%. Furthermore, 25-to-34-year-olds ranked second with 20% in the initial year, but then this figure decreased to 12%, which was equal to the percentage of people aged 0-15 years old in the final year.
