The data and pie chart show the three different sources of income for the police budget and the distribution of expenditure across three domains (Salaries, Technology, and Buildings) for one region in the UK, respectively, over two years 2017 and 2018.
Overall, there was a notable increase in the total funds allocated to the police department, and the amount of spending saw a rapid decline in salaries for officers and staff, with no change in budget for buildings and transport, whereas the technology sector witnessed a significant rise in spending.
In 2017, The National Government stood at around 175 million pounds and saw a considerable rise in income of over 2.3 million pounds in 2018, while there was a huge dip in local taxes of around 11 million pounds. However, the income from other sources, such as grants, plateaued throughout the period.
It is observed that the majority of the spending was allocated to providing salaries for officers and staff; in contrast, the minority was the technology sector, which was at 75% and 8% in 2017, respectively. However, there was a slight drop in both components of over 6% in 2018, with no variation in funding proposed for both buildings and transport.
