The table illustrates the revenue in the police budget between 2017 to 2018, while the pie chart gives information about how the money was spent in different aspects. Units are measure in £m.
Generally speaking, the biggest source of capital of the police is from the national government, while most of the expenditure is spent on the salaries of officers and staff.
According to the table, a marginal increase can be observed in the total amount of the police budget. The source of income from the local taxes has grown exponentially from only 91.2 million to over 102.3 million. The capital from the national government rises from 175.5 million to 177.8 million merely, meanwhile, the money from the other sources decreases for only 0.5 million insignificantly.
Looking at the pie charts, one particularly interesting fact highlighted by the figure is that the salaries of officers and staff make up the vast majority of spending in two consecutive years. However, there has been a noticeable drop in the percentage from 75% to 69%. In stark contrast, the expenditure on technology has climbed from 8% to 14% considerably. The remaining spending on building and transport stands at about 17% in both years.
