The figures illustrate the difference in time spent on household chores and leisure activities by men and women in the UK in 2008, measured in minutes per day.
Overall, men dedicated more time to leisure activities, whereas women focused more on household chores.
Men spent an average of 137 minutes per day on TV, video, and radio, compared to 118 minutes for women. However, the time spent reading was approximately equal for both genders, averaging 18-19 minutes per day. In terms of sports, men allocated 15 minutes while women spent 11 minutes.
Shopping time was roughly similar for both genders, at about 30 minutes per day. Men devoted twice as much time to repairs as women, spending 20 minutes per day on this task. Conversely, women invested significantly more time in cooking and washing dishes, averaging around 72 and 30 minutes per day, respectively. Additionally, women spent three times more time on laundry, averaging 30 minutes per day.
