The table and pie charts provide information about the number of research students from local and international, in Australian universities between 2001 and 2010. Overall, from the table and the pie charts, it can be seen that there were more local students than international students in the research field in both years and local male dominated this fields.
Looking at the table, the research students in both years were dominated by local students, at 33.657 students in 2001 and 39.488 students in 2010. The number of international students was nearly half that of local students, with approximately 5,000 students in 2001 and almost 15,000 students in 2010. While there were fewer international students, the total number of students, including both local and international, rose from 38,657 in 2001 to approximately 54,081 in 2010.
Moving on to the pie charts, there were an increased percentage of international students over a 9-year periods, from 13% students to 27%. On the contrary, the local research students from experienced a decline, from 87% students in 2001 to 73% students by 2010. This trend was opposite of what is shown in the table. Additionally, in 2001, both of international and local research students were dominated by male, at 9% and 44%, respectively. Moreover, in 2010, the non-local female was dominated the international students, with an increased by 11% and local male still dominated this year.
