Overall, the total number of people studying research grew significantly between 2001 and 2010. Both local and international students increased in number, while the percentage fell for people pursuing their degree locally decreased over a span of 10 years.
In terms of the sum, individuals who studied research rose considerably from 38,849 to 54,081 from 2001 to 2010. By 2010, local and international students increased by 5,831 and 9,401, respectively.
Looking from a proportional perspective, the percentage of students from Australia fell from 87% to 73% from 2001 to 2010. Meanwhile, a growth for individuals who came from other countries was reported from 13% to 27% by 2010. Based on genders, both Australian male and female similarly decreased by 8% in 2010. In contrast, men from other nations grew minimally by 3%, while the women soared by 11% at the end of the period.
