Overall, the total percentage of car ownership in Britain increased over the period shown. It is also noticable that the proportion of househould with two cars and over rose, while the figure for resident without a car fell at the same period.

In 1971, about 48% of household in Great Britain did not use a car, compared around 44% of one car ownership. By contrasts, the families had three or more cars accounted for the smallest percentage, some 1%.Whereas, close to 9% of households with regular use of two cars in the same year.

From 1971 to 2007, we can see that the proportion of the families had one car and more than three cars steadily changed in Great Britain, by 3% and 5% respectively. The opposite trend can be seen when we look at the number of resident with two cars enormously climed over the 36-year period, some 26%. While, throughout the periof shown. there was a significantly dropped in the proportion of household without a car
