The two given maps illustrate how Dalton town was changed between 1815 and 2015
Overall, the Dalton area witnessed significant development and modernization with the addition of new facilities such as roads, industrial zone and transportation infrastructure. The notable point was an considerable increase in houses, leading to a reduction in green space.
Looking at the left-hand of the river, the area used to be the Dalton Forest was destroyed to make way for the construction of residents’ houses. Moreover, a hospital, which was located between the river and the residential neighborhood, was erected with some trees in 2015. Additionally, three large industries were built directly opposite the residential district.
During the period of 200 years, a ford for people crossing was demolished and accompanied by the appearance of new bridge and highway. The bridleway, situated in front of the River Dal, was transformed to an airport for improved transportation. Furthermore, the roads were expanded to access more locations such as school and hotel, which was a replacement for Hall Farm area. In addition, some trees were chopped down to create a housing space for citizens.
