Overall, the library underwent significant transformation, shifting from a traditional book-focused layout to a more technology-oriented and interactive learning environment. In addition, traditional reading facilities were reduced to make way for digital resources and modern study spaces.
In 2000, the library had a traditional layout. Reading tables were located along the top of the building, while numerous bookshelves occupied most of the central area. Near the entrance, there was a reception desk in the middle, with a children’s reading area on the left and the librarian’s office on the right. Overall, the layout prioritised physical books and quiet reading spaces.
By 2013, the interior had changed considerably. The reading tables at the top were replaced by study pods, providing more private study areas. Most of the bookshelves in the centre were removed and replaced by a digital media area equipped with computers. In addition, the reception desk gave way to self-checkout kiosks, reflecting a shift towards automation. Finally, the children’s reading area was converted into an interactive zone, while the librarian’s office was converted into a tech support desk.
