Moreover, coal and gas appear to be moderately favored by people, indicating proportions of 25.1% for coal and 20.9% for gas globally. Furthermore, the proportion of combustible renewables and waste usage was notable at 10.6%. Also, 6.5% of nuclear power and 2.2% of hydropower were consumed, which was comparatively low. Additionally, the utilization of other energy types was negligible at only 0.4%.
With regards to the global electricity generation over last year, the leading energy type was coal, indicating 39.8%, representing over a quarter of the total. Comparatively, electricity generation by employing gas was the second popular option, accounting for 19.6%. In addition, approximately equal proportions of hydropower and nuclear power were converted to electric power, which were 16.1% and 15.7%, respectively. However, oil, which demonstrated the maximum overall usage, was insignificant in terms of electricity generation, indicating just 6.7%. Conversely, consumption of other energy sources was as little as 2.1%.
