Overall, the Asia-Pacific region accounted for the largest share of the world’s population, while most educational spending was focused on primary and secondary education, with minimal investment in higher education.
More than half of the global population (54%) resided in the Asia-Pacific. Europe represented 14%, while Africa, Latin America, and North America accounted for 11%, 9%, and 6% respectively. The Middle East and other regions made up the smallest proportions, at 5% and 1%.
In terms of educational spending, primary education received the highest proportion at 35%, followed by secondary and high school education at 28% and 26%, respectively. In contrast, only 10% of the budget was allocated to university-level education, and a mere 1% went toward further education
