The charts compare the proportion of the distribution of world population by regions (Asian Pacific, North America, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Caribbean, Middle East and Nourth America, and others) and expenditures of people on education in 2000.
Overall, a large number of people lived in Asian Pacific, whereas the lowest percentage belonged to the other areas. Furthermore, the high schools accounted for over half of all expenses, while the further education was consisted of the smallest share.
The share of the population in Asian Pacific comprised of 54%, which was the most significant category, while the amount of the population in North America, Europe and in Latin America and Caribbean was similar, stood at approximately 10%. In contrast, the North America accounted for 9% and the population of Middle East and North Africa was only 6%. Other areas showed a similar trend, by made up only 3%, which was the smallest proportion among all categories.
The expenditure on the high schools was the most significant category, which stood at approximately 33%, while the both kinds of education (primary school and secondary schools) accounted for similar percentage, at about 26%. On the other hand, the university and further education made up similar percentage, at around 10%.
