The two-map demonstrates significant development that occurred at Happy Valley Shopping Center over the period from 1982 to 2012.
Generally, there are several changes in the layout of the map, most of which concerns the expansion of the shopping mall and reorganization of its indoor facilities. Additionally, there were different replacements on the ground floor including the parking lot, though some areas still remained in place.
As can be seen from the first picture, in 1982, visitors had to go along the road and through the entrance which led into a lobby. On the path to the main entrance, there was a lake with trees planted around. Moreover, the entertainment area was a bit cramped as accompanied by coffee shops, stores (sports store, electronics store and furniture store) and toilets almost surrounding it from all sides.
Around 2012, the alteration was made outside where a lake was filled to make way for a spacious parking lot and furniture retail because the indoor shopping area spread to the west. As a result, the line of trees disappeared in the lower corner of the former lake. Through which the entrance, the lobby area and coffee shop had been knocked down for the bigger central entertainment area while the toilet still existed. A linear array of themed restaurants moved in along the eastern wall of the shopping center, taking up the space where there had once been sports and electronics shops.
