Band 6+: You live in a room in college which you share with another student. However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it very difficult to work. Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In the letter, describe the situation, explain your problems and why it is difficult to work and say what kind of accommodation you would prefer.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I firstly would like to introduce myself, i am a first year student of Industrial chemistry and i was allocated a shared room in Block B, Room 140 with a fellow student.

i would like to categorically state that the situation has become untenable. I have encountered great difficulties in effectively studying, resting and otherwise going about my daily life in the room. My roommate is incredibly loud and untidy, it has become very difficult to live with him.

There are several issues i’d like to bring up for consideration, chief amongst them is my roommate’s penchant for loud music , this causes me great discomfort when i want to study indoors and it also becomes an issue when i want to rest after the rigors of the day. Another issue is the indiscriminate clutter of his clothes and personal effects that make neatness and decency almost next to impossible living with him .

I would like to be reallocated another room with a more amenable roommate that would make life on campus easier and healthier for me or preferably like to get a sole occupancy room to myself if possible and if available.
