Imported products have become ubiquitous: whenever we purchase items of any kind, it’s plausible to assume at least some of the products will come from other countries. This essay will discuss the positive and negative aspects of importing goods and argue why it’s beneficial to an average customer.
Firstly, imported products often differ from goods made in one’s fatherland, enabling the customer to indirectly explore the world. For instance, the use of specific ingredients is often required to make dishes from various cuisines. Gochujang, which is a spicy paste, is necessary to make kimchi, a dish originating from South Korea, to name an instance. I believe that everyone should be able to appreciate the diversity of the world, even if they cannot afford to travel.
On the other hand, many individuals consider importation to negatively affect their country’s economy. While it might be true that products made in one’s motherland support local producers and bring more financial benefit to the economy of that country, it’s crucial to consider that imported products undergo extensive taxation. This ensures that the country doesn’t suffer financially.
To conclude, while it’s reasonable to recognize that importation of goods comes along with some financial risks, it also makes it possible for individuals to make use of a bigger variety of products. I have a firm belief that we should prioritize the individual over the country, so I believe that the benefits of importation outweigh its drawbacks.
