Children’s development is considered to be influenced mainly by family, but some people argue that kids nowadays are being influenced by other factors such as friends and teachers. I partly disagree with this idea because parents still play a vital role in children’s lives.
Home environment has a huge impact on children’s development thanks to the extended times they stay with their families. To be more specific, most of Vietnamese kids live in a nuclear family where they live with their mom, dad, grandparents in their childhood, which gives them chances to observe and learn from their parent’s behaviors and attitudes. As the result, by living in these families for long time, children develop their mindsets and personalities based on their family teaching and lessons, which are created mainly in their childhood.
On the other hand, I acknowledge that students nowadays may be influenced more deeply by their teachers or peers. This change happens because students have to spend more time studying at schools or even attend at some extracurricular classes or clubs to learn new skills, which give them more chances to interact with others instead of their families. They may share more stories and listen to their teacher’s lessons about life. In addition, they may mimic their friend’s attitudes and behaviors to fit into the class. Furthermore, because of that, children do not have much time for their families, which may decrease the influential of home environment in the children’s development.
Conversely, family still have more advantages on developing children. Although students do not have much time for their families, their parents still have some holidays when students do not need to go to schools, which can be used as a bonding event such as going picnic or travelling. These activities let parents to have more times to communicate and convey some personal experiences to their children’s. Furthermore, they can ask their kids to do some house chores such as cleaning house or cooking, which let children learn more soft skills and raise more awareness about their responsibility in their families. This action is important for developing good manners in the future among children.
In conclusion, home environment contributes a huge effect on children development thank to the huge amount of time children live in their family. Although children development nowadays may be affected by external factors thanks to having more times with friends or teachers, family still can help to shape their children’s personalities by interacting with them more and giving them more responsibilities in the families.
