In today’s digital era, there has been an increasing number of modifications, primarily driven by the scientific and technological breakthroughs over the past century. Although there are considerable improvements in the quality of community that make many people believe that it is the greatest time to be alive, I partly agree with the view, as there are certain drawbacks which call for our attention.
There are numerous reasons why many citizens believe this era is bringing many advantages. Such people can experience better healthcare systems, they may be able to enjoy life and have a longer lifespan. Medical advancements during COVID-19 pandemic in some countries, for instance, had been surviving many patients and reducing the number of casualties. Moreover, technological devices are being used more and more, which enhances convenience and broadens social circles of each person. People can flexibly choose to work from home, maintain connections with their families and friends, regardless of the geographical distance.
By contrast, there are still disadvantages which affect our community. Since the living costs have increased in several nations, some people with low socio-economic status can not afford their needs and therefore they are living under pressure. This issue can result in many significant problems such as limited access to education, an increasing wealth gap, and a rise in crime rates. Additionally, the advancement of technology has led to a range of substantial issues on social media. For example, cybercrime in many countries, including fraud and hackers, are believed to impose severe threats on society.
In conclusion, the cutting edge of science is beneficial to our economy, healthcare and putting each nation’s potential to the maximum. However, I believe that the government should guarantee the balance of basic needs for citizens and provide more subsidies to avoid social unrest.
