Nowadays, a lot of people believe that fathers should take a paternity leave after the child is born. I definitely agree with that statement because, firstly, it is about supporting the partner; secondly, it helps to break the stereotypes that claim that only mothers can take care of children properly.
New mothers often need some time for mental breaks and they need physical and emotional support after childbirth. It is important for more mothers to feel cared for and supported by their partner and to have time to recover without taking on household chores. In that case, by taking a rest, fathers can look after the baby while the mother is resting, connect with the child and know how to take care correctly, help with housework, and provide emotional support. As a result, mom will feel better and have time for herself, not getting stuck in a routine, and fathers will bond with their newborns, which is crucial for the child’s emotional development.
Our society keeps thinking that only women can look after the baby well and fathers are not; they should earn money instead. But fathers are also parentsand have the same responsibility to the child. By providing dads the opportunity to take off, we challenge the stereotypes and make it clear the concept of equal obligations.
To conclude, I think that fathers should take the rest. Allowing men to take paternity leave rest makes the whole family closer, makes women feel better and loved, breaks the stereotypes.
