Today there is a growing trend of art subjects such as painting and drawing which play an important role in education. Some people believe that these subjects are as important as science and mathematics, so they should be compulsory in high school. However, others think that students should focus on academic subjects. In my opinion, art classes should be optional, not compulsory.
First of all , art helps students to develop creativity and imagination skills. Many careers, such as design, architecture, and advertising, require such creative skills. If students learn art at school, they can improve their ability to think differently and express ideas through art. Moreover, drawing and painting help students relax and reduce stress. While school life is being stressful with many exams and homework, art gives students a way to enjoy learning.
On the other hand, not all students are interested in art. Some of them prefer subjects like science, mathematics, or sports. If art become a compulsory subject, these students may not enjoy learning. Moreover, schools have limited time. If they make art compulsory, students may have less time for other important subjects like science and languages.
In conclusion, art is an important subject that helps students in many ways, but it should not be compulsory. Instead, schools should offer art as an optional subject that students who are interested can take it, while others can focus on subjects they prefer.
