There is a view that good relationships between different countries are becoming much more important due to the whole planet’s facing more and more problems. I strongly agree with this notion for several reasons.
One reason behind international relations becoming more important lies in their possibility to help in overcoming negative consequences caused by the increasing number of problems. Maintaining good relationships between different nations is a beneficial way of using preventative measures. In the past, hostile relationships discouraged international cohesion and caused additional burden to countries already facing medical, demographical and financial difficulties, and this remains true today. Thus, maintaining friendship between nations plays a crucial role in the governments’ sustainability, military and overall well-being. For that reason, numerous unions and international agreements are being made today. For instance, ASEAN is the international union that maintains encouragement and support between Southeast Asian countries, and therefore protects them in cases of international tension or worse, war. This means that good relationships between countries can prevent the nations from facing deleterious consequences of global tension.
Additionally, sustaining amicable relationships between countries can benefit the governments in terms of education. Many countries face educational drop and increasing number of low-performing individuals, and this problem could be mitigated with the maintenance of good international relationships. Education is a key driver of country’s environmental, technological and economical development. Good relationships with other countries can encourage the implementation of several agreements, such as adoption of one nation’s subjects into other one’s school curriculum or integration of student exchange programs, which are set to increase the educational degree of citizens. A case in point is the FLEX program which provides a fully funded opportunity for international high school students to study in the United States for an academic year, and pupils come back to their own countries with expanded horizons, experience and advanced knowledge.
In conclusion, I completely agree that good relations between different countries are becoming more important than ever before, given the opportunities to prevent severe consequences of political tension and foster academic growth of citizens.
