As the population is not often distributed equally, the propotion of young adults is larger then that of senior citizens in some countries. This article is written to emphasis the point that it is beneficial to many aspects of the current world because of many reasons including the following: older population may need to be financially provided for whereas the younger people can take care of their financial needs.
Every countries economy stands on the population who can contribute economically. It is not a secret that people who are categorised as elderly may not be able to make economic contributions as much as their younger counterparts. It is evident from the countries such as China where there is not enough younger people who can work as most of their population consists of elderly.
Governments often have to pay pention to the retired population which is an added expense. Not only the governments but also the family members of the seniors have to spend an extra amount for elderly care. Especially, if the older family members need additional care such as special diets, and health care support equipments such as wheelchair. Everyone whose grandparents living with them may understand this reality.
The elderly, who may not have the best of cognitive abilities, may not make the best decisions. To further explain, the brain function of humans may likely to reduce after a certain age and become prone cognitive diseases such as alzeihmers. Hence, the elderly may not be suitable for positions of power unlike the younger population.
In conclusion, the elderly can offer many benefits such as guidance to the younger generation. However, having a larger young adult population is most advantageous to society.
