The number of young adults population in some countries surpassed the number of older people at the present time. It certainly presents disadvantages on the population density, leading to the difficulty of getting a job opportunity and limited housing or accommodation settlement.
Despite the fact that the young adults can perform better in developing countries at any kind of fields, it is still inevitable that the increasing number of this group of age leads to a narrower job fields. In Indonesia, for instance, the Government surveys that the young adult stated that in today’s situation, they are facing a hard time to get a proper job due to its competitiveness. Even most of fresh graduates experienced the impact of this. Thus, it will definitely increase the number of jobless people in the country itself.
As the demography growing constantly, having the elderly number lower than the young adults could potentially cause a limited housing area. In Indonesia, particularly in Jakarta, the Government is facing challenges in managing and controlling housing area that are currently messed up. People that comes from a low income experiencing a hard time to find a proper accommodation since there are only fewer spaces left to build a house and the prices of renting an apartment or a flat are expensive. Therefore, they would not hesitate to illegally stay inappropriate area.
In conclusion, although the young adult can become an asset to develop countries, it is still a problem to us due to the drawbacks it brings afterwards. Having a lower number of golden-generation does not mean we have to press the population of young adults. To overcome the job competitiveness difficulty and the limited residential area, the Government should provide prudent solutions to mitigate the negative impacts, such as managing a balance density throughout the country.
