Some of the saddest goodbyes today are said not on battlefields, but at airport gates. Every year, many talented young minds leave Pakistan due to a lack of opportunities. Their departure raises a difficult question about who will serve the community left behind. Although going abroad provides better opportunities, I believe that talented professionals should serve the country as their first preference because it invested in their education and their communities depend on their skills and talent.
To begin with, a student educated in Pakistan benefits from resources that the has invested in him, such as schools, teachers, and universities. Therefore, they should give back to their country before seeking opportunities abroad. For example, a young graduate who receives a high-paying job offer abroad, reject it to serve his country first. He may then start STEM projects for students to enhance their skills, inspiring many young people. This shows that when talented people give back, the country’s investment grows into lasting benefits.
Moreover, many communities depend on talented professionals because they have lack the expertise to improve education on their own. Hence, talented professionals have the ability to engage students and provide them with conceptual learning through visual graphics. For instance, a computer science engineer builds a virtual learning system that schools and colleges may use to show visualization of atoms in science and graphs in maths. This initiative can uncover the hidden talent in students which may gradually improve the literacy rate of Pakistan.
Critics may claim that individuals should focus on their personal growth first and serve the country later. It is true that personal growth builds the skill a person needs. However, serving the country does not delay growth, because working with real communities teaches responsibility and problem solving. Knowledge also grows when it shared with others, so service becomes a form of learning. Therefore, a person who serves his country strengthens his personal growth while helping others.
In conclusion, talented professionals should serve their own country first. Their education is funded by the country and their community depends on their skills. Instead of seeking success only abroad, they can build the future which benefits everyone at home.
