Electric vehicles (EVs) are on the rise as they are deemed far less damaging to the environment. However, some people are still reluctant to leave gasoline cars and switch to electric vehicles. In this essay, I will discuss both perspectives.
One of the main reasons some people are reluctant to switch to electric vehicles is insecurity. When you drive a gasoline car and run out of gas, it is easy to find fuel stations to refuel the car. The process will only take at most 10 minutes. This is not the case for electric vehicles. The charging stations are not as many and widespread as fuel stations. Moreover, the charging process requires a longer time, so drivers should spare more time for this. Because of this reason, many are still reluctant to use electric vehicles, especially for long journeys.
On the other hand, due to pressing environmental issues such as global warming, governments are urging the use of electric vehicles as they produce zero emissions and will reduce air pollution. Furthermore, electric vehicles are more efficient than gasoline cars as they can travel longer distances at a lower cost.
In my opinion, electric vehicles will be the future of transportation, but governments have to work hard to provide more charging stations and to address how to care for cars so that a more conservative society can embrace the transition.
