After levels of education, the largest part of an adult life is spent working, hence work fulfillment plays a crucial role in the well-being of the grownups. In the following essay, I will discuss the factors influencing the overall job satisfaction and then attempt to answer the question of how possible it is for employees to be satisfied with their jobs.
A fair salary and financial incentives affect employees’ satisfaction levels at work to a large extent. Most individuals work to earn an income because money is necessary to fulfill the basic needs of humans such as food, shelter and health care. Therefore, an adequate income is important as it helps in improving the overall well-being of the employees by easing their financial burdens of meeting the everyday basic needs.
A proper salary not only meets the financial basic needs of the employees but also serves an acknowledgment of his or her skills, efforts and contributions to the organization. When employees are given the perception that they are fairly rewarded for their work, they are likely to correspondingly show higher motivation and commitment, resulting in increased levels of job satisfaction.
As much as organizations try to ensure that their employees are satisfied, it is highly unlikely that employees will feel this way consistently at the work. This is due to the fact that everyone has his own perception of how an ideal workplace environment should be like. Even if an organization has adapted a suitable working environment which favor the majority of the employees, there will always be some employees who are dissatisfied by the changes made.
In conclusion, while job satisfaction is an essential component to the employees’ well-being, it often comes with unrealistic expectations which the organizations are unable to meet.
