Band 8+: Full time university students spend a lot of time studying. Some say they should do other activities too. agree or disagree

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the contemporary higher education landscape, full-time university students often dedicate a significant portion of their time to studying. Nevertheless, it is argued that they should also engage in other activities. I completely agree with this perspective.

It is true that university students should prioritize their studies. Academic success is usually linked to the high amount of time and effort students invest. For instance, individuals who consistently apply themselves to coursework tend to achieve higher grades and gain a deeper understanding of their subject matter. Furthermore, a strong academic record, such as a high GPA, can enhance students’ employability, fostering better job prospects for their future. As a result, academic responsibilities should be the main focus of university students.

Nonetheless, I believe engaging in extracurricular activities is equally important for the holistic development of university students. Participation in activities such as sports, clubs, or volunteering can hone students’ social skills and provide opportunities for personal growth. For example, students involved in team sports like basketball or soccer can develop leadership and teamwork skills, which are valuable in any future career path. Additionally, extracurricular activities can offer practical experiences that complement academic learning, allowing students to apply the knowledge that they learn in school and, in turn, deepen their comprehension of the subject. Thus, it is also essential for students to devote their time to other activities.

In conclusion, while focusing on academic responsibilities can benefit university students in the long term, I contend that it is equally important for them to engage in extracurricular activities. By balancing between academic and non-academic pursuits, students can maximize their university experience and prepare themselves more effectively for the future.
