Advocates also emphasize the importance of ecological balance, arguing that respecting animals contributes to maintaining biodiversity and harmony in nature as seen in successful wildlife conservation worldwide.
On the other hand, using animals for human purposes have been argued that animal research have been crucial in developing life-saving medicines and technologies. For example, the polio vaccine which eradicated the disease in many parts of the world was initially tested on monkeys. In rural areas for instance, oxen and horses are used for farming and transportation, directly contributing to human livelihoods. For instance, testing cosmetics on animals can be replaced with advance non-animal method but using animals for essential medical research may still be justified. Additionally, free range of animal rearing can ensure that animals are treated humanly while fulfilling human needs.
