Immigration has been a fundamental human activity for thousands of years up to the present day. As a phenomenon, it affects societies and communities deeply, whether positively or negatively. This essay will discuss the main causes of immigration along with the consequences it may lead to.
People immigrate for a multitude of reasons, the most obvious one in my opinion is due to wars and famines, where they flee their beloved countries and homes as refugees to ensure the safety of their children and loved ones. Another reason is the continuous search for a better life, which leads a lot of young people to abandon their families, countries and everything they know in pursuit of happiness and self-fulfillment somewhere more advanced and civilized.
With regard to the consequences, They are mainly positive for the destination countries and their people, since immigrant are usually extremely hard working and they do not take anything provided for them for granted. On the other hand and in contrast to the receiving countries, the abandoned countries are usually the most compromised party in this complex equation, because they lose their most precious resource, young people, making it a challenging task to rebuild after war or even catch up to the advanced countries draining their resources from right under their nose.
In conclusion, Immigration is an inevitable fact related to human life, which may be caused by different events and motivations generating an enormous impact on different societies and nation, and while some of them are benefitted from it, there are others who are left with nothing in this unfair trade.
