In many countries, wearing uniforms is obvious and compulsory for students. Although I understand that it may have some drawbacks, I strongly believe that its benefits are more significant.
On the one hand, putting on attire can be seen as negative for some reasons. The main disadvantage is that pupils can lose their individuality. When they are permitted to wear uniforms, they can not have the opportunity to express their characteristics through their costumes, which can lead to a lack of diversity in the school. For example, in some international schools, students are allowed to wear their personal clothes, and this way can create a vibrant, colourful school. Besides, students at that school can freely unleash creativity and enhance their artistic thinking through the combination of outfits that reflect their personal colours and individuality.
On the other hand, I would argue that this policy offers more benefits. Firstly, putting on garb can create equality among students and reduce discrimination based on social status or religion. If schools do not issue this regulation, poor students can not be more confident than wealthy students because of their magnificent outfits. Moreover, this policy may reduce the effect of students’ backgrounds to foster a sense of equality among them. Another noticeable advantage is that it can decrease distractions in the learning environment. Extravagant and eye-catching outfits can be a cause to create distractions in students’ studies and put peer pressure on them. When wearing uniforms, it can be eliminated, and at the same time, they help students feel more comfortable in making friends and improving their academic performance.
In conclusion, although wearing uniforms can lose pupils’ particularity, it can create an equal environment and help students develop better.
