It is observed that the quality of life these days in many urban areas is getting worse. There are many possible reasons for this, which will be explained in this essay. Nevertheless, there are also some actions to be taken to solve the problem.
The first explainable cause is that the cities nowadays are rapidly modernized, leading to several kinds of pollution, most notably air pollution. Most of the citizens are using private vehicles such as motorbikes and cars which produce a great amount of exhaust fumes that are harmful to the atmosphere. City dwellers live and breathe the fumes every day in their life which means their health will soon be affected. Another cause worth mentioning is the living standard in most built-up areas which is relatively higher than that of the countryside. However, a number of workers in the cities are paid low so they cannot afford the expensive facilities and amenities in the cities where they are living.
To tackle the problem of low quality of life in urban areas, there are some possible solutions including imposing new laws and operating new policies to help citizens deal with the problem. Regarding the laws, the government should impose new regulations to reduce the pollution phenomenon. For instance, vehicle check-ups should be organized to have all private vehicles regularly checked in order to make sure that only qualified ones can be used. In consequence, the exhaust fumes will be reduced gradually. Furthermore, new policies to raise their salaries should be introduced. People with enough qualifications deserve to be highly paid so that they can afford the exorbitant amenities and facilities within the cities and have a better quality of life.
In conclusion, there are many causes for the problem of low quality of life in large cities nowadays including pollution and inability to afford high living standards. Yet, some actions can be taken by the government and local authorities in the future to get the problem solved such as imposing new laws and introducing new policies.
