Recycling has perennially been a controversial topic, which is obviously more serious as the availability of recycled items, such as aluminium cans, has increased sharply in several nations. The following paper will outline the roots of this phenomenon and offer some measures such as education programs to help tackle this trend.
From a realistic perspective, there are two main causes lead to the insufficient recycling of materials. Firstly, not many citizens, especially in developing countries, are equipped with practical knowledge about the significance of recycling. For example, a research conducted by RMIT University in Vietnam shows only 9% to 10% randomly interviewed residents in Ho Chi Minh City could correctly sort waste, with most being students and teenager. This highlights that very few adult or old people are aware of proper recycling, resulting in low participation rates. Another noticeable reason is that these countries sometimes overlook the importance of reprocessing. Due to the inadequacy in recycling infrastructure in these nations, such as rubbish bins that help distinguish between recycling and organic garbage, it is difficult for citizens to recycle effectively. As recycling facilities are either not available and poorly managed in many public places in the city like park or bus station, very few people are encouraged to recycle waste, which directly results in the enormous of garbage released to the environment every day.
Despite the aforementioned arguments, various approaches could be employed to alleviate its adverse repercussions. A viable solution is to improve infrastructure in public place so that recycling can become more accessible to more people. With a better investing in waste management systems, the authorities of cities can encourage citizens to take part in recycling. Threrefore, installing more recycling waste bins systems and other facilities is one of the easiest and most feasible solutions that can be adopted to cope with the problem. The second measure is that Government should take the initiative to promote recycling all over the country. Since not many citizens have enough knowledge in recycling, the government can implement some educational campaigns to assist people recycle. Besides, they can also provide incentives like tax reductions for household or bussiness that use recycled items, so that more and more people can take inspiration from and apply, leading to a better environment, with less rubbish and more recycled items.
Take everthing into consideration, inadequate recycling in some countries is relavant topic in modern society, with several causes such as lack of knowledge and recycling. However, numerous solutions, such as investing in recycling infrastructure or offer some educational programs could be done to adress the problems.
