Band 7+: In many countries today, people buy a range of household goods (television, microwave, oven, and rice cookers). Is it a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In a number of countries, buying a wide range of household appliances, such as cookers, ovens and TV) has become prevalent. In my opinion, this trend brings several positive impacts on people’s lives.

One significant benefit is the time and labor efficiency this development offers. In the past, individuals, particularly housewives, had to execute many household tasks in a manual way, which was time-consuming and physically-demanding. These activities might limit their availability for other personal pursuits. However, thanks to the recent advent of household goods, which are designed to lessen users’ workload at home, several people could be given more time for professional interests or recreational activities. This remarkable change can enhance living quality among consumers, in turn helping in striving for a better balance in life.

Another worth-mentioning advantage is the positive influence on economic development. To explain, the process of producing an electric device requires a multitude of stages involving the manufacture of materials and accessories and intricate assembly. If there is an increase in consumption from a large number of consumers, greater human resources will be needed to boost the productivity in production to accommodate such a higher demand. This can contribute to job creation and a boost in economic activities. For instance, Vietnam has recently received foreign investment in the industry of component production for household appliances, which lowers unemployment rate and generates more income for citizens there. As a result, this trend can foster sustainable economic growth in the long run.

In conclusion, from my perspective, the widespread adoption of a large quantity of modern equipment for houses in some countries is considered to play a vital role in changing people’s lifestyle and developing the economy in a country.
