Band 7+: In many countries, primary and secondary schools close for two month or more in the summer holidays.what this the value of long school holidays ?what are the arguments in favour of shorter school holidays?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Today, in a number of countries, both primary and secondary schools close at least two months in summer as vacations. A group of people believe that although these holidays are essential for pupils, they should not be prolonged. In my opinion, all pupils require sufficient time for relaxation, and it should be three months.

Nowadays, countless individuals think that younger pupils, especially those who are adolescent, must have enough time to recover. In other words, they should unwind, because if they do not have sufficient spare time, it might make them reluctant to study. Moreover, some educational experts believe that children can utilize their leisure time to enroll in courses they are enthusiastic about. It means that it can be considered as an opportunity for industrious students who have academic dreams and want to broaden their knowledge, gain experience, and prepare themselves for their goals.

Meanwhile, there are controversial debates about shorter school holidays. As a shining example, a large number of educational consultants are unanimous that shorter pleasure time can adversely affect students’ learning. For instance, if pupils have to go to school for a long period of time during a year without enough holidays in summer, it can be tedious for them and make them redundant about their schools and curriculums. Consequently, it might negatively affect students’ exam results.

To sum up, today, in numerous countries, schools are closed in summer between two and three months. It could be lucrative for students because these holidays could be considered as recovery time or an opportunity for students to take a beneficial course. However, shorter school holidays might decrease pupils’ performances and make them redundant about study. In my view, we should provide sufficient time for children to have relaxation during summer.
