In many countries, modern events are replacing many traditional festivals. I believe this is a negative development toward these countries. This essay will discuss the factors that contribute toward this shift and the negative developments.
There are many factors that contributes toward the replacement of cultural festivals with modern events, and one of the main reason is social media. Social media has affected people all around the world in many ways. For instance, more and more high school teenagers are inclined to take part in online events or trends, as such these high school teenagers lack enthusiasm and interest to continue old traditions. As a result, these traditions are forgotten, while modern events are celebrated by more and more people.
One of the many negative developments that follows this shift is the loss of traditions in many countries. Traditions are unique and varies from country to country, this variety is what differentiate one country from another. Without these traditions, a nation will lose its uniqueness and history. As a result, most of society in various different country will look alike as there is no cultural difference to tell them apart.
In conclusion, social media has encouraged people all around the globe to take part in modern events or trends. However, social media has also made the youth uninterested in continuing old traditions, and as a result, their traditions are lost and replaced by commecialized events. In my opinion, it is imperative for a nation to protect its tradition and culture.
