Band 6+: In many parts of the world, some famous people are considered as ‘role model’ and they are having an increasing influence on the young. Is this a positive or negative development ?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In a large number of nations all over the world, some celebrities are regarded as role models and they make a huge impact on youngsters. From my perspective, this is a disadvantageous development which leads to wrong career paths, financial effects and unusual behaviours.

One serious problem that can arise from the stars is that teenagers may imitate the wealthy and elegant lives of idols. It is undeniable that famous people are portrayed in social media with luxurious lifestyle which makes the young have the burning desire to mimic. Therefore, they will follow in their favourite people’s footsteps and formulate impossible expectations. A recent survey has showed that there are 55 percent of students in a high school in korea foster the ambition of rising to stardom only because they want to become well known like their famous figures.

Another issue is that adolescents may be detrimentally influenced by celebrities whose thoughts are skewed. It is because nowadays, there are still some notorious superstars having abnormal behaviours and sharing incorrect information in the social platforms. With technological advance, immature people rapidly accessed to these datas and emulate negative things. Moreover, copying their stars may exert negative effect on young people’s expenditure. They are likely to purchase clothes and goods which are similar to their idols.

In conclusion, although it has become increasingly popular for celebrities to be regarded as ideal citizens, it has brought about too many problems for this to be considered as a negative trend, some of them include inaccurate career choices, immoral attitudes and financial burden.
