Nowadays, young people are spending more time with their friends than with their families due to their parents’ busy work schedules . Parents should not compel their children to stay at home, as it can adversely affect the children’s lives.
The lack of communication between parents and their children, stemming from the demands of busy work schedules , is a significant factor. With parents frequently absent, working long hours or being away 24/7, children only have brief moments to spend with them. Seeking someone to talk to, children often turn to their friends since there’s no at home for them. For instance, in my hometown, parents, primarily business owners, are constantly occupied with work. Consequently, when kids return from home to an empty house, they seek companionship with their peers.
Forcing children to stay at home can have detrimental effects on their well-being. Constantly being at home can lead to depression and hinder social development, preventing them from learning how to make friends or comprihend the dynamic of friendship. Parents should allow their children the freedom to socialize and not impose restrictions that confine them at home. For instance, participating in groups activities at school becomes challenging when a child lack social interaction at home.
In conclusion, the shift toward young people spending more time with friends than family is a result of the communication breakdown caused by parents’ busy work schedules. Parents should avoid coercing their children to remain at home, recognizing the negative impact it can have on their development.
