Band 4+: In recent years, there has been a rise in the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports. What are the consequences of doping for athletes? What measures should be taken to combat this issue?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, some drugs are used to have better performance in competitions, and the amount of this use is increasing. This issue has some harmful results, and some practical solutions are elaborated as follows.

The athletes who use performance-enhancing drugs hurt their bodies. Many harmful and disadvantageous ingredients are consumed in the production processing of the drugs by the producers. These elements have a devastating effect on individuals’ bodies. Not only it is followed by straining their veins, but also it can contaminate their blood. Having said that, it has disastrous impacts on their health. Furthermore, if sports competition organizations know about athletes who use performance-enhancing drugs, they would deny those athletes from attending sports competitions for the rest of their lives. This action can have bad effects on athletes’ morale.

There are some inhibitory activities that can diminish the amount of consuming these drugs. First of all, administrative authorities should introduce the use of performance-enhancing drugs as a crime, and athletes who use these drugs should be known as criminals. They should be fined with heavy penalties like paying a large amount of money. Studies have shown that setting a penalty can cause a reduction in the crime rate. Moreover, athletes who are using doping should always be denied of competition in competitions.

In conclusion, consuming of performance-enhancing drugs has some destructive effects on the human body. I am persuaded that people who use these drugs and commit doping offenses should be fined by sports competition organizations. This is followed by a dramatic reduction in the use of these substances.
