It is considered that introducing an increase in a tax for unhealthy food could solve the issue of consuming the big amount of this type of food. I completely disagree with this statement, and though introducing additional fees could mitigate the issue short term, I consider that the root of the problem for such behavior should be sought.
Firstly, exploring the reasons behind popularity of the fast food is crucial in understanding what should be fixed in the society. One of the main points justifying choosing fast and unhealthy food over healthy one is advertisement. The rapid growth of presence of companies offering their tasty lunches makes it an easier choice for many. At the moment, the average teenager would not even consider getting a salad for lunch due to the more convenient location of the junk food seller, that seems reliable due to the neuron connections formed by the ads.
Another point to consider is the lack of proper widespread education related to the human’s health. Investing money into lectures about the benefits of a well-balanced diet and the consequences of disregarding sports activities could improve the overall society’s vision of the importance of denying unhealthy food. It is worth mentioning that the absolute blindness regarding physical state is not that visible currently, however, there is always a place for improvement.
In conclusion, reducing opportunities for the major concerns of fast food in terms of promotion and creating more educational content in terms of the healthy lifestyle could significantly improve the percentage of people turning to healthier diets.
