In today’s digital world people are gaining more weight than their required BMI in many countries. Due to obesity, there are many complications regarding their fitness and health, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and maintaining a healthy blood pressure.
The first and foremost reason of this weight gain is the lengthy working hours. Now people have to work extra to afford a luxurious life. As a result, they can not spare time for exercise. Moreover, convenient availability of processed food is also another crucial reason of obesity. Furthermore, there is a lack of sports facilities in many countries, which makes people inactive and ultimately they gain extra weight. For example, a report published by national health sciences of America reveals that the growing consumption of fast food is leading 40% of people towards obesity. Another example is from Pakistan, where one third of the population is suffering from diabetes due to inactivity.
To minimize this trend of weight gaining, it should be made mandatory for workers and even government officials to participate in healthy activities. Additionally, usage of organic foods should be promoted and high tax should be imposed on the fast food industry to control its excessive usage. At the government level, preferences should be given to expanding sports facilities for people to help citizens to maintain their fitness.
Overall, extra weight from recommended BMI has become a serious threat almost to every country. It is also creating health issues and causing an increase national health care expanses. So a collective effort is the need of the hour to mitigate this serious health threat.
