In spite of advancement and modern society, some people believe that the age of 16 is appropriate to participate in an election, while others believe voting participants should be 18 or higher. This essay believes that the downsides of the immaturity of the young generation and their roles in the political world outweigh the benefits.
On one hand, young adults are currently inexperienced in having voting rights. In other words, youth are not eligible and mature enough to elect good politicians to control the countries. In addition, they have lack of knowledge to evaluate the candidates personality although they always have access to global news. Thus, there are many consequences for the country due to the wrong decisions. Such as, electing ineffective and unprofessional politicians who will manage the country in an inappropriate way.
On the other hand, assume that this is one of the best ways to educate and attract the young generation about the political situation in their nations. Some countries believe that individuals who are 16 years old should have practical lessons in voting rights and have engagement to various political issues. However, youth groups are manipulated easily by politicians and their insights into governmental circumstances are different and will give their votes to a candidate that will promise them a positive plan despite their social status.
To conclude, the advantage of the political participation for 16-year-old individuals is outweighed by the drawbacks of inexperience and being easily manipulated by politicians.
