In the recent years, many people have advised that the government should hold the power to control the activites that violates the social norms and values while on the other hand some believe that this will breach the right to speak freely. In this essay, we will discuss both views about the arugument in detail.
We are living in the modern age of internet where everything can be easily accesed by others. An individual can share anything he likes in the web which may be going against the laws and social norms.The government should be given the authority to delete and disable the access to online content that is deemed socially negative. For instance, if a person has made a post that cointains nudity in the social platform, a young chilld who has access to the web may come in contact to it. This may lead the child to have a worse experience growing up to an adult moreover it will negatively effect the way he will view the world. However if the government has the ability to control and takedown these types of things it will reduce the problem by a large amount.
In the other hand, If the goverment has the right to restrict access to online content that is deemed socially divisive it also means that they have the ability to oversee the activities of the users. In certain situations this argument may also break the right of an individual to his freedom to post anythings he likes. As the government has has the authority to remove anything they deem as sensitive content without regarding the users intention or aim which results in the hamper of hid rights to freedom.
In sumarry, i strongly believe that the government should have the authority to oversee the online content which effects the society and the people living in it.
