Band 9: It is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is often argued that everyone, including young people, should save money for the future. I completely agree with this view because financial savings provide protection against unexpected difficulties and help people achieve important long-term goals.

The primary reason for saving money is that life is unpredictable. Unexpected events such as economic recessions, serious illnesses or sudden unemployment can place people under considerable financial pressure. Those who have built up savings are generally able to cope with these challenges without relying heavily on loans or financial support from others. The COVID-19 pandemic, for example, demonstrated how quickly stable incomes could disappear, leaving many families struggling to cover basic living expenses. Having emergency savings therefore offers financial security and reduces anxiety during uncertain times.

Saving money is also essential because it enables people to accomplish future ambitions. Young adults often hope to pursue higher education, purchase a home, establish a business or retire comfortably. Achieving these goals requires careful financial planning over many years. Furthermore, developing the habit of saving encourages self-discipline and responsible spending. Instead of making impulsive purchases, individuals learn to prioritise essential expenses and manage their finances more effectively, skills that remain valuable throughout adulthood.

Admittedly, some people believe that young adults should spend more of their income on travelling or enjoying new experiences while they are young. Although these activities can broaden people’s perspectives and create lasting memories, they should not come at the expense of financial stability. Maintaining a balance between spending and saving is a far wiser approach.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that everyone should save money because it provides protection against unexpected problems while making important life goals more achievable through responsible financial planning.

Many contend that securing financial stability is essential for individuals of all ages. I am generally in agreement with this contention though I would concede that saving money can be taken to illogical excesses. Undue emphasis on saving prioritizes satisfaction in a possible future over enjoyment of the present moment. In most countries, individuals begin […]

People are divided over whether free play and relaxation are crucial for children. From my perspective, although there are valid arguments for […]

Many people believe that the internet has made people more isolated and less connected to their local communities. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Many argues that the development of modern technology diminishes the social interaction of locals in their community. Contrary to that argument, I believe that it is quite the opposite. Forming connections in local communities has adapted to the modern era where it breaks through technological barrier. Additionally, an individual’s attitude on making rapport has a […]

Many people work long hours, leaving very little time for leisure activities. Does this situation have advantages or more disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write atleast 250 words.

In today’s fast-paced societies, people tend to put more hours in work and reduce their free time instead.
