Several parts of the public consider that it is more essential for pupils to learn about local history rather than world history. However, others do not agree with this statement. This essay will discuss both views and explain whether I agree or disagree.
Nowadays, history is divided into two main parts at school: world history and the history of Uzbekistan. Some people regard it important for schoolchildren to learn their local history, and believe that this subject should be taught properly. For example, local history exists as a subject in schools, but teacher often do not teach it, because they think the information in the books is unnecessary. As a result, even though this lesson exists, it is mostly ignored.
On the other hand, it is shameful when pupils do not know their local history. For instance, we have relatives abroad, and they when they visit us, they ask about the history of our town. One day, they visited us and asked about the history of our hometown, but we were not able to answer, because we had never studied that kind of discipline before. If such situations keep going on, the next generation will just continue illiteracy.
In conclusion, local history should be taught at school with great attention. Many students do not know their local history, and not only I, but also many older people consider it as a shame to know world history while being unaware of their own history.
