Nowadays, it is considered more prominent for students to learn English rather than local languages. I’m my opinion, it is good to learn English as a whole as a part of study. Although, English holds its own importance, local languages should also given priority to prevent them from fading out. First of all, I believe that there is no harm in learning English language as it is one of the most widely spoken language in most of the countries. Knowledge of English can help to reduce language barrier. I think it will be more beneficial for students in the future as they might travel to different nations for higher studies or for various job opportunities. For instance, if a person want to go to Harvard university in USA he/she should be fluent in English reading writing listening and speaking. This will be the basic requirement to enroll in the university. That’s why learning English earlier can be beneficial in long run for students. I strongly believe that along with learning foreign language, it is equally important to preserve the native tongue. Local languages are our identity which represent our traditions which we should be proud of. To ensure the survival of our local speech, it should be taught to the children’s in home by parents as house is considered as the first place of learning. Secondly, mention of history and importance of native speech should be mentioned in the text book of students.
In conclusion, learning English will be fruiteful for the brighter future of students. Nevertheless local languages should also be given equal priority in school . The fusion of learning local language as well as English will be more beneficial.
