In many parts of the world, many governments allocate more funds to art, which can benefit the quality of citizen’s lives. While I partially agree with the statement, I believe governments should prioritize other necessary sectors more than art. This essay will discuss my perspective on both sides.
One of the main reasons why I believe that governments should invest more money on other essential sectors, such as healthcare or public welfare, is because it’s a fundamental need. For example, if the government provides free accessible medical treatments in hospitals, it will reduce risks of severe diseases in patients, which directly improves people’s quality of life. In addition, public welfare such as parks, road repairs, and transportation systems, requires significant investment. These services affect citizen’s daily lives and provide immediate benefits. Therefore, it is reasonable for governments to prioritize these areas over art.
Nevertheless, art should not be completely overlooked due to its significant contributions. It helps individuals stay connected to their cultural heritage, making communities more engaging and appealing. Furthermore, cultural sites such as museums and galleries can attract tourists. This can be seen in many cities where tourism supports local businesses and creates employment opportunities. As a result, art contributes to both cultural identity and economic development.
In conclusion, while essential services such as healthcare and public welfare should be given more priority, art still needs to receive some support too. In my opinion, a balanced approach to public spending is required to enhance the overall well-being of citizens.
