In a rapidly developing world, where ancient things are transforming into new creations, museums are the only places where historical objects are preserved. As a result, a growing number of museums are levying entrance fee while others are complementary. However, is the entrance fee beneficial or are there more drawbacks? In this essay, I will explore pros and cons of charging admission fee and try to draw some conclusion.
I will begin by focusing on benefits. One if the major plus points of charging entry fee is there will be high-class maintenance the money can be highly utilized for improving exhibits, facilities and other operations which is only possible if the staff working there have enough funds.
Secondly, allowance will be useful in raising the standard of the museum because not every other lay person will waste money on things not intended for them. For Example, museum based on historical medical equipment will target medical experts only thus maintaining the authenticity of museums.
On the other hand, charging fee has certain disadvantages as well. Firstly, most people are reluctant to spend money on such places where they don’t they don’t get anything in return. Thus, decreasing the demand of that museum due to low visiting ratio.
Another major disadvantage of charging on entrance is there will be accessibility issues, because charges will create barriers to access, particularly for individuals and families with lower incomes. This may restrict the ability of some people to enjoy and benefit from the cultural and educational offerings at museums.
Conclusively, there are both positives and negatives to admission fee on museums. In spite of the fact, that it limits access to individuals and reduce visitors number, majorly it brings quality of experience and overall financial sustainability. According to my interpretation, it is important to levy entrance fee to increase value perception.
