Despite sending offspring to the school, a whole host of parents decide on homeschooling. Several factors can contribute to the phenomenon and I think that it is a negative development.
School education is seen as disadvantageous for several reasons. First and foremost, It is due to the safety of young generation. In other words, parents are concerned about their children’s protection and would like to keep them away from bullying activities that often occurs at schools. Secondly, schooling at home leaves more time for children to engage in other more important fields, fostering them to spend enough time with their family members and pursuing their liking for sports, dancing, and other extracurricular activities. For example, according to the labeled theory “ten-thousand hours”, individuals can be master of anything, if they spend ten-thousand hours on that thing. It means that each person need more time to focus on his subject in order to succeed.
Nevertheless, it is believed to be detrimental for number of reasons. The key among them is that parents can cause an insulation of their children in their peers. Homeschooling means studying alone and it can prevent the expansion of their social circle. Like for instance, homeschooled teenagers would feel anxious in situations, such as, team work or public speaking. Besides, they get easily bored and tired as they study in a solitary atmosphere, offering fewer chances to be engaged in various activities.
In conclusion, comfort and safety measure are some of the essential causes why parents prioritize educating their offspring at home over school and I believe that it has serious negative consequences.
