Band 5+: Many people believe that countries should produce food for all population eats and import food as little as possible. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is a statement of some people that countries ought to make products of their own to feed residents and try not to buy food abroad. I completely disagree with that because of the bad influence it brings to countries . My point of view will be explained by how import and export are essential for economy of countries.

In today’s global economy, consumers are used to seeing products from all over the world in their local grocery stores. These overseas goods or imported goods provide consumers with a wider range of food choices. In addition, people have the opportunity to learn more about the food culture of other countries and enjoy it. For example, many people adore exotic fruits, and imports from tropical countries allow them to enjoy them.

Similarly, imports and exports stimulate the economies of countries in the international market. By introducing their local products to the global market, countries are becoming in demand, and their ranking is rising among others. For example, Asian countries such as Korea and Japan export their instant noodles, which we know as ramen.

In conclusion, having trade relations between countries is important for good opportunities not only for the country’s economy, but also for residents who consume food.
