Band 5: Many people believe that countries should produce food for all population eats and import food as little as possible. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

Some think that nations should reduce taking goods from overseas by growing crops in own country for people living there. This essay totally disagrees with this statement because it would be difficult due to certain climatic conditions and rise in demand will lead to high prices of locally produced goods.

Favorable weather is required to grow certain crops. Every country in this world has different environmental conditions due to which it is impossible to sow all different seeds in same soil and expect all different fruits and vegetables in one nation. For example, strawberries and apples need a cold temperature to grow and countries in desserts like UAE, Saudi Arabia cannot grow these fruits, therefore they rely on export only. Hence, if they stop getting these products from outside, public won’t we able to enjoy these tasty fruits.

Another reason why export process should be continuous due to risk of rise in price of locally grown food. When there is a limited variety of food in the market people will start buying in large quantities, which directly lead to scarcity of basic food items. As a result, sellers will increase the rates of groceries and masses will suffer from this.

In conclusion, although some folks are in favour of prohibiting the exports from different places and they want nations to totally depend on food grown in same countries. I still believe that foods should be import from different places because of unfavourable weather conditions and fewer imports will lead to high price of commodities.
